1997-2003年，纪念斯隆-凯特琳癌症中心外科胃癌和混合瘤组主任，现任黑色素瘤疾病管理组负责人。毕业于美国俄亥俄州辛辛那提大学医学院，临床医学博士（M.D.），纪念斯隆-凯特琳癌症中心研究员，美国外科医师协会委员，美国癌症联合委员会黑色素瘤分期委员会委员，美国国家综合癌症网络黑色素瘤顾问组委员，美国外科学会癌症委员会黑色素瘤工作组委员，世界卫生组织(WHO)黑色素瘤委员会委员。

Daniel G. Coit教授主要从事黑色素瘤的临床手术治疗和研究工作。他于1991年提出黑色素瘤及其他皮肤癌的淋巴结定位和前哨淋巴结活检技术。这项技术被广泛用于术间确定肿瘤是否已发生周围淋巴结转移扩散，及决定是否手术切除肿瘤组织周围的前哨淋巴结。Daniel G. Coit教授目前正在专注于检测和确定黑色素瘤患者的前哨淋巴结、血液、和骨髓中黑色素瘤细胞的临床指示意义的研究，这项工作对于判断黑色素瘤患者外科手术切除后，复发风险的评估具有重要意义。
