1997-2003年，纪念斯隆-凯特琳癌症中心外科胃癌和混合瘤组主任，现任黑色素瘤疾病管理组负责人。毕业于美国俄亥俄州辛辛那提大学医学院，临床医学博士（M.D.），纪念斯隆-凯特琳癌症中心研究员，美国外科医师协会委员，美国癌症联合委员会黑色素瘤分期委员会委员，美国国家综合癌症网络黑色素瘤顾问组委员，美国外科学会癌症委员会黑色素瘤工作组委员，世界卫生组织(WHO)黑色素瘤委员会委员。

Daniel G. Coit教授同时擅长胃癌的治疗，目前为纪念斯隆-凯特琳癌症中心两个重大胃癌研究项目的主持者，两个研究项目分别为“术前化疗对于高复发风险胃癌患者的有效性评估”和“胃癌患者生活质量评估”。他还是高度活跃于美国国内和世界性肿瘤大会的讲者，多部肿瘤“治疗指南”的编写者并撰写多篇外科肿瘤学课题的综述。
